Today comes a new offer for an increase in civil servant

Vedat Işıkhan, Minister of Labor and Social Security, stated that the Committee of Public Employers will present today its new proposal in the negotiations of the Public Collective Agreement of the 7th Term, where the financial and social rights of civil servants and retirees will be determined in 2024- 2025.

The third meeting between the parties will be held today at 2:00 p.m. at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

Minister Işıkhan said that the collective agreement negotiations they carried out were decision processes with a very broad and comprehensive content on the financial and social rights of civil servants.

Stating that the financial and social rights to be determined are in the interest of approximately 6 million people and their families, Işıkhan said:

“We need to carry out such an important process with precision. As is known, we began the negotiations of the Public Collective Agreement of the 7th Duration, which covers the years 2024-2025, as of August 1. At the start of the process, our unions and confederations submitted 936 requests to our Public Employers Committee, including the economic and social rights of our public employees.

In the negotiation, which proceeded to classify the offers of 11 service branches in accordance with the work schedule, a preliminary discussion of the proposals for the general public was also held. With the completion of the classification and preliminary negotiations of all the proposals, the negotiation phase, which is of great importance, has been passed. We are currently negotiating.”

NEW OFFER TO SEND TODAY

Recalling that Memur-Sen, which was the authoritative confederation in the talks, requested a 110 percent increase in 2024-2025 with quarterly increases, Işıkhan said:

“As the Committee of Public Employers, our first offer was 14 percent for the first six months of 2024, 9 percent for the second six months, 6 percent for the first six months of 2025, and 5 percent for the second six. months. However, Memur-Sen requested that our offer be reviewed.

Therefore, in line with our work schedule, we plan to meet again today to present our new offer. Again, according to our work schedule, all interested parties must submit their final proposals before August 22.”

‘OUR PURPOSE IS TO DECIDE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE’

Işıkhan explained that if an agreement cannot be reached in the negotiations, the Public Officials Arbitration Board will conclude the process and used the following statements:

“Of course, under any circumstances, our goal is to decide on the process as soon as possible. However, I believe and hope that the talks will result in a compromise. In fact, it is proof of this that our meetings up to now have been held in an environment where common sense, understanding and courtesy prevailed.

Of course, this is a negotiation process. Bids are submitted whether or not they are eligible. This is a very natural course. Hopefully the process is resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned, with common sense, good sense and consensus. I wish it to be beneficial to our country and our working life in advance.”

EXPLANATION OF PENSIONS

Minister Işıkhan also gave the following information on requests for pension improvements:

“We received the instructions from our President regarding retirees and we started working. Until now, we have not been indifferent to the demands of our retirees or other citizens, and we will not remain so in the future. I would like to emphasize that we will do whatever it takes by pushing all our chances, even further.” (AA)
