Retired officer and officer focused on new raise offer

In the negotiations of the Public Collective Agreement of the 7th Legislature, where the economic and social rights of civil servants and retirees will be determined in the 2024-2025 period, the Committee of Public Employers is expected to present a new increase proposal tomorrow.

The process, which began on August 1 in collective bargaining, involving approximately 4 million public servants and 2.5 million retirees, continues under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

THE FIRST OFFER WAS NOT ACCEPTED

The classification and negotiation of the demands of the branches of services, and the pre-negotiation of the demands of public officials in general, had entered the negotiation phase with the Committee of Public Employers presenting the first increase offer on August 14.

The unions, who did not find the offer of an increase of 14 percent in the first half of 2024, 9 percent in the second half, 6 percent in the first half of 2025 and 5 percent in the second half of 2024, called of new proposals to the Committee of Public Employers.

REQUESTS FOR 6 SERVICE ARRANGEMENTS WILL BE DISCUSSED

While the new increase proposal to be made for public servants and retirees is focused, the negotiation on the demands of the service branches continues.

While it is known that the demands of 6 service branches will be discussed today in the framework of the negotiations, the Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan is also expected to attend these meetings.

‘NEW OFFER MAY ALSO BE OFFERED TODAY’

Memur-Sen Vice President Hacı Bayram Tonbul stated that the Public Employers Committee’s proposal was far from his expectations, saying that the offer did not match economic realities.

Stating that the low raise offer, which fell below expectations, lowered the motivation of the desk, Tonbul said:

“Negotiations in the collective agreement negotiations will end on August 22. In this sense, we have several days ahead. The Public Employer has to submit his new offer tomorrow, but he can submit it today without wasting time.

We have to use the limited time we have very efficiently. The Public Employer must come to the table with a proposal that meets expectations, taking into account the last 6 days in the negotiation calendar. He should pave the way for the contract to be signed by agreement.

OFFICER-SEN REQUESTS

Memur-Sen, which is the authorized confederation at the collective bargaining table, had requested an increase of 35% in the first 3 months, 10% in the second 3 months, 15% in the third 3 months and 10% in the fourth 3 months, including social participation, for the quarterly periods of 2024.

By 2025, the Confederation required a 25 percent increase in the first 6 months and a 15 percent increase in the second 6 months, including social participation, for six-month periods. (AA)
