The investigation committee of the Competition Authority requested a sanction from the owner

Representatives of the online advertising site sahibinden.com, which is under investigation by the Competition Authority for ‘abuse of dominant position in the market’, today presented an oral defense.

The Competition Authority launched an investigation regarding the determination of whether sahibindenden abused its dominant position in the market for real estate/car sales/rental platform services, by preventing data portability and by other means.

At today’s defense meeting, the investigative team representative asserted that the company has a dominant position in the online real estate sales/rental and vehicle sales markets, and asserted that the company prevents its corporate members from carrying data and use more than one platform.

‘MOVEMENT OF DATA IS PROHIBITED’

The representative said that “Sahibinden makes it difficult for its corporate members to use more than one platform by preventing them from carrying data, and thus complicating the activities of its competitors through the non-compete obligation it imposes in its contracts.”

In this context, the representative stated that an administrative fine should be imposed on the company within the scope of the Competition Law.

The board’s decision will be announced in the coming days.
