Cucumber, tomato, pepper, watermelon… All 1 TL
MHP Mayor Yüksel Büyükkarcı, in Karaman’s Ayrancı district, sold the tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, melons and watermelons he planted on the 15,000-square-meter land of the municipality to the people of the district for 1 lira per kilo after Harvest.
Büyükkarcı said that they followed that path to remove market shopping from citizens in the district with a population of 2,400 and to make citizens feel a little more comfortable. Buyukkarci said:
THEY WANT TO BRING A CASE
– Here we grow cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, melons and watermelons. To this day, we have been packing up our citizens every day at night and leaving 2 kilos of products at their homes. As of today, we have determined that the weight of all the products we produce is 1 lira. The kilo of tomatoes, the kilo of cucumbers and the kilo of other products are 1 lira.
– Our goal is to show citizens that this land becomes profitable and to encourage citizens by saying that these products grow well here. We have limited our product sales here to the people of the district only, and people want to see a case when their weight is 1 lira. As we think that this will lead to injustice, the people of the district receive their weekly needs of 6 lira, as long as they do not exceed 2 kilograms of products. (DHA)
