Influx of Arab tourists to Trabzon

The number of tourists arriving in Trabzon, one of the important tourist centers of the eastern Black Sea region with its historical and natural beauties, increased in 7 months by 43 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Trabzon, which attracts attention with its unique cultural richness, where green and blue meet, is among the holiday destinations of those who come from hot regions, especially from the Gulf countries, and who are bored with the city ​​life.

Besides the plateaus, tourists visiting the city mainly visit Uzungöl, Sümela Monastery, Sera Lake, Çal Cave, Şahinkaya, Boztepe, Girls’ Monastery, Ganita, and Hagia Sophia Mosque.

Tourists who spend their time shopping in the city center also evaluate alternatives such as trekking, rafting, safari, fishing, horseback riding, boat and yachting, climbing and skydiving in the region.

Provincial director of culture and tourism Tamer Erdoğan told Anadolu Agency (AA) that Trabzon attracts a lot of attention this year, as it does every year during the tourist season.

Expressing that they expect the number of visitors to peak this month, Erdoğan said, “All our Gulf countries show interest in our province. Recently, there has been interest in Trabzon from the European region, especially from the Netherlands, Italy, France and Germany.” saying.

Explaining that the guests mostly prefer the plateaus, Erdoğan said, “Sümela, Uzungöl, Hıdırnebi and other plateaus are our main destinations. Our guests like to spend time by streams and in cool places because they like to be alone with nature.” he said.

Pointing out that the number of ships in Trabzon has increased by 50 percent recently, Erdoğan said, “Our guests love to see different destinations by boarding ships in the coastal region. Of course, this pleases us. Trabzon is revitalized both in terms of alternative visits and in terms of maritime tourism”. he used his statements.

Tamer Erdogan, emphasizing that they expect to close the tourism season this year, above last year, made the following assessment:

“According to our current data, we have approximately 400 thousand foreign guests in the 7 months of 2023. There is a 79 percent increase in the number of foreign tourists compared to the 7 months of 2022. Based on the 7-month period of 2023, we have 740 thousand guests, both national and foreign. When we take last year’s average as a base, there’s a 43 percent increase on this one.”

Stating that Trabzon received 192,892 foreign tourists last month, Erdoğan said:

“There is an increase of 112 percent this year as foreign tourists compared to July last year. In July 2023, we received 268,427 people, both national and foreign. The increase in total was 81 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. I hope that Trabzon continues to occupy the place it deserves in tourism.”

Hayri Can Aydın, head of Greenhouse Lake Facilities, said that the intensity of tourism continues in the same way compared to last year.

Stating that many tourists come to Sera Lake, especially from Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Jordan, Aydın stated that they are busy 7 days a week.

Noting that the good weather also increased the intensity, Aydın said, “Thank God, we are trying to receive and help our tourists in a good way without any problem.” saying.

Emphasizing that tourists like to be entwined with nature, Aydın continued as follows:

“The season is going well for now, I hope it stays that way. We are in August, the season seems to be ending slowly. How can we be better next year? How can we attract more attention from our tourists? We are working on this and we are trying to prepare accordingly for next year.”

Altan Hamza Çebi, who spent time with his daughter at the Sera Lake playgrounds, drew attention to the beauties of Trabzon and Sera Lake and said, “I recommend it to everyone. A place in nature. For the weekend, for the holidays, it is a place to have a good time with the family.” he said.

58-year-old Mustafa Şahin, who came to Trabzon for vacation with his family from Germany, said that they had a chance to visit Boztepe and Hagia Sophia.
