President of the IMF to the SSI, which supports

Kürşad Arat, who led the pre-election retirement age (EYT) process at SGK, was fired. With the new appointment, 5 presidents have changed in SGK in the last 4 years. Since 2019, SGK has been chaired by Selim Bagli, Cevdet Ceylan, İsmail Yılmaz, again Cevdet Ceylan, and most recently Kürşad Arat.

A graduate of the Middle East Technical University, Dr. Raci Kaya is also known to be close with former Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak. In the Wikileaks documents, allegations surfaced that Kaya gave information about Treasury bureaucrats to Albayrak via email in 2013 and that she had filed a report. Working in public and private banks, Kaya served as Deputy Under Secretary of Treasury and Chair of Vakıfbank’s board of directors from 2016 to 2018. When the position of IMF Country Group Executive Director passed to Turkey, the then Treasury Minister, Albayrak appointed Kaya to this task.

The appointment of Raci Kaya, who has a background in banking and the IMF, to SSI created expectations that the institution would focus on the financial structure. It is also claimed that Kaya may make further increases in many areas, including retiree hospital and pharmaceutical participation shares.
