Eyüp Aksu, Chairman of the Istanbul Chamber of Taxi Professionals, who did not consider the 51.52 percent increase in public transport sufficient at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality UKOME meeting, said they would announce a new fare schedule .

In his statement on the matter, Aksu said, “According to Article 63 of the Istanbul Union of Chambers of Artisans and Craftsmen, the Board of Directors will meet extraordinarily tomorrow. And it will make changes to our fee schedules. We will also announce it to the public. We do not accept this rate given by UKOME”.

At the IMM Meeting, Transport Coordination Center (UKOME), the proposal to increase the services of bus, metrobus, metro, tram, nostalgic tram, marmaray, ferry, maritime bus, minibus, taxi, school and personal used was discussed. on public transport.

With the proposal put to a vote and accepted by a majority vote, an increase of 51.52 percent in public transport in Istanbul was achieved. In addition to the 51.52 percent increase in taxi and minibus fares, additional increases were made at different levels to various fares.

Consequently, a 75 percent increase was made in the minimum fare (hop-on-hop-off) for taxis. With the decision, the minimum cost of taxis in Istanbul was 70 TL, from 40 TL. The taxi drivers reacted by finding the rise too low. Some taxi drivers gathered at the Istanbul Chamber of Taxi Professionals to protest the decision.

“Today was the UKOME meeting. 51.52 percent of our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality requested a fare change for all modes of transportation. Made a rate increase of at least 100 percent on our fixed expenses.

Our merchants are in a difficult situation, our profession is out of sustainability. We can’t continue. Taking into account our expenses, we demand at least a hundred percent increase in the rates of taximeter rates. The commission and the metropolitan municipality insisted on the offer of an increase of 51.52 percent. We do not accept this fee. We voted against and left.

Istanbul Union of Chambers of Craftsmen and Craftsmen will meet extraordinarily tomorrow in accordance with Article 63 of the Law on Craftsmen No. 5362. And will make changes to our fee schedules. We will also announce it to the public.
