Officers’ retirement fears took hold
The fact that 8 thousand 77 liras of increase and 3600 additional indicators given to public employees were not reflected in the root salary caused the retirement demands to be withdrawn.
Public employees who dreamed of retiring and submitted their applications began to withdraw their applications due to increases that were not reflected in their pensions.
According to the determination of the Education Entrepreneurial Union in Denizli, 82 percent of public employees who applied for retirement in the National Education affiliated organizations alone withdrew their applications.
HEAD OF AYDOĞAN EDUCATION BUSINESS: A DIFFICULT PROCESS TO LIVE THROUGH
Namık Kemal Aydoğan, president of the Eğitim İş Denizli branch, said that retirement conditions are difficult and financially exhausting.
-The rate of wanting to retire during this year’s retirement period, submitting a petition and giving up retirement due to problems in economic conditions, strong inflation and high cost of living afterwards is approximately 82 percent, this is the rate that we have been able to determine so far.
– This shows that; Retirement is really a difficult process to live for an official in our country. For this reason, our friends returned to working life. They gave up retirement.
‘WE HAVE FRIENDS whose salaries drop to 8-9 thousand liras’
Stating that the salary increase was delayed, Aydoğan said:
-The increases that we saw until Seyyanen got the increase, this money came back as it was, with the additional tax increase.
-We are still lost because we are in a higher tax bracket. While; this is a much more disadvantageous situation for our retired friends. We have friends whose pensions have dropped from 8 thousand liras to 9 thousand liras. Who can live on 8-9 thousand lire?
-This includes someone who teaches children at the university. There is a loan debt. When you consider the average pension of 12-13 thousand lire; Under current conditions, it is impossible for a retiree to earn a living with increased fuel, natural gas, electricity, water, basic consumer tools, olive oil, and cheese.
-The retirement conditions have arrived, and among our friends who can retire, those who provide this return constitute the majority.
-Because it is very difficult for them to live on the salary they are going to receive. Among these friends, we have friends who have paid their taxes to this country for 35 years and retired. We have friends who have worked for 38 years and retired but withdraw their petition.
“ALL TEACHERS AT A SCHOOL WITHDRAW THEIR APPLICATIONS”
Ersin Dede, President of Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sen Denizli Branch, said:
– Serious activity was expected in Denizli regarding our teachers who will retire this year, but it was below the expected number. The reason is economic conditions. People can’t see ahead. I spoke with a friend of mine, deputy director.
– All teachers at your school withdrew their retirement applications. Last year, our public servants were waiting for an additional 3,600 indicators to increase our bonuses and salaries, but we are struggling under such a severe poverty line that this expectation is meaningless.
Last year, only 19 people applied for retirement, including all districts within the limits of Denizli province. All teachers waited for the additional indicator.
-This year, this number has reached 327. It was expected to be more than 600. At the moment, no one can predict whether a retired teacher can survive on an average of 15 thousand liras.
‘TEACHERS PENSION CANNOT GO BEYOND IMAGINED’
Dede continued:
-When you enter the staff room, you can meet 5 different teachers. The difference in salary of a specialist teacher or director is not reflected in his retirement.
-This pushes our teacher to work a few more years. He says that at least as long as he can hold my hand, I will continue the fight for life.
-I have a teacher friend again… His son won METU. He gave his salary card to his son. It is impossible to pass. The child’s monthly expense exceeds 20 thousand lire, including rent.
Many teachers have withdrawn their retirement applications, as teacher retirement under these conditions is nothing more than a dream.
‘TWO TEACHERS CANNOT MAKE ONE POOR’
I think the situation is the same everywhere. No one works below the poverty line. We are not slaves. Currently, the poverty line is based on 35 thousand lire. We are husband and wife, two teachers, we can’t even be poor in this country…
* The salary of the two does not make one poor. It is impossible to live in such a condition, to live in this condition of life. This is not just for education workers. Unfortunately, this can be considered for all public employees, even everyone.
– *All employees must receive wages above the poverty line, we need to live humanely. There are severe income inequalities.
-Today, another person can spend a month’s salary on lunch. We live in such a country. We will continue to defend this.
‘IF MY 41-YEAR-OLD OFFICER RETIRES, I WILL RECEIVE 13 THOUSAND 853 LIRA IN SALARY’
Hürriyetçi Eğitim Sen University Supervisor Ferit Yıldız stated that the main reason for the withdrawal of retirement applications is low salary, saying:
-The reason for their retirement is that while they currently receive 24-25 thousand salaries, they suddenly drop to 13-14 thousand liras. 13-14 thousand lire force people’s living conditions.
– In other words, falling to 13 thousand lira and getting 25 thousand lira makes them give up retirement and work. I have been a public employee for 41 years. If I retire today, I will receive a salary of 13,853 lira.
-My current salary is 24 thousand 770 liras. The difference is quite a lot. I don’t think I will retire because of this difference. When I buy an additional 3600 indicators, it goes up to 16 thousand 800 lira. So I think it will relieve officers and retirees from the additional indicator.
-It’s still not enough under these conditions. We want a salary above the poverty line. Because when we look at it, especially in metropolitan cities, including Denizli, there are no rents below 7-8 -10 thousand lira. I retired and got a salary of 13,800 lira.
10 thousand lira will go to rent anyway. How will I live? I have a 2 year old grandson. When my grandson arrives, how do I buy him a toy, how do I take him to the park.
‘PROFESSOR ÖZCAN DEMİR: I WITHDRAW MY PENSION APPLICATION’
Özcan Demir, who has been teaching for 26 years, said:
-In the first place, our working conditions as teachers are difficult. Please retire as soon as possible due to our insufficient salaries, and if you have an opportunity to do something else, please consider it. The idea of taking the retirement bonus, at least allocating it to an investment for the future of your children, pushed me.
I submitted my retirement application. However, since the increase in the salaries of civil servants in the recent period is not reflected in the retirement bonus and pension, the retirement bonus and salary remained very low. That is why I decided to continue teaching and working.
– If I were retired, I would have a salary of around 14-15 thousand. I don’t have the opportunity to earn a living. Since my son is studying at the university, whichever way you look at it, it costs around 20 thousand TL.
-We are trying to fulfill this with my wife. We also have a daughter in high school, so unfortunately I had to withdraw my retirement application.
‘PROFESSOR RAFET ŞAHİN: I was thinking of retiring, I gave up’
For his part, Rafet Şahin, a 29-year-old teacher; “I had the idea of retiring. Both for making a place for myself with the new generation and because I believe that now it is necessary to rest. Because the working conditions became more and more difficult for us. We had to resign due to insufficient salary increases. I did not submit my retirement application. I was thinking of giving it up for this month but gave up due to these increases. The additional 3600 indicators and the increased surcharge did not help retirement. If I had retired under these conditions, I would not have survived. You get a salary of 14-15 thousand lire, ”he said.
