Following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to Saudi Arabia, the first leg of his Gulf tour, a joint statement from the Directorate of Communications was produced.

Emphasizing that during the meetings decisions were made to increase cooperation in trade and investment between the two countries, it was noted that the target sectors were infrastructure, construction, engineering, defense, environment and heritage tourism, and renewable energy.

The statement also discussed ways to improve trade between the two countries by intensifying communication between the private sectors of the two countries and by researching and identifying leading investment opportunities.

THE DESIRE TO COOPERATE FOR NUCLEAR ENERGY

One of the sectors discussed in the negotiations was the energy sector.

The statement stressed that the parties are willing to develop cooperation in energy fields including renewable energy, electricity interconnection between the two countries, Saudi Arabia’s electricity exports to Turkey and Europe, energy efficiency and low-carbon fuels such as hydrogen.

“They expressed their desire to explore options for cooperation regarding the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and the regulatory dimensions of these areas. In addition, the increase in cooperation in the development of projects and supply chains related to the energy sectors and sustainability was discussed.

INVESTMENT AND COOPERATION IN THE INDUSTRIAL SECTOR

During the visit, the memorandums of understanding signed in exports and imports were also discussed.

The joint communiqué noted that the importance of activating the memorandums signed during the negotiations, attracting investment in the industrial sector and strengthening cooperation in industry and mining was mentioned.

In the statement, it was noted that talks were also held in the field of energy and discussed the importance of strengthening cooperation in a number of energy fields, including oil, petroleum derivatives and petrochemical supply.

ATTENTION AGAINST CORRUPTION

Noting that the issue of strengthening cooperation in the fight against all kinds of cross-border corruption crimes was also addressed, the following statements were included:

“Furthermore, the two sides will strengthen bilateral cooperation with the aim of combating all kinds of cross-border corruption crimes and will take advantage of the Global Operational Network for Law Enforcement Authorities to investigate corruption cases, prosecute perpetrators and combat corruption between Both countries. Anti-corruption institutions, in particular, to recover from corruption offences, reaffirmed their determination to strengthen effective communication in the areas of revenue recovery.”

9 AGREEMENTS BETWEEN PRIVATE SECTORS

During the visit; Although it was mentioned that a series of agreements were made between the two countries in different fields, it was reported that 9 memorandums of understanding were signed between the private sectors of the two countries.

“During this visit, the two sides welcomed the signing of the Cooperation Implementation Plan in the Fields of Capabilities, Defense Industry, Research and Development, 2 Sales Agreements between the Saudi Ministry of Defense and the Turkish company Baykar, Cooperation in the Field of Promotion of Direct Investment, media and energy.

In addition, at the Turkey-Saudi Investment Forum, 9 MoUs were signed between the private sector organizations of the two countries in the fields of energy, real estate, construction, education and digital technologies, health and media.”

PEACE AND SECURITY IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

The statement, in which it was noted that issues related to international relations were also touched upon during the meetings in addition to the two relations, the statement continued as follows:

“Regarding international relations, the two sides reiterated their determination to continue to coordinate and intensify efforts to maintain international peace and security. The two parties exchanged views on issues of interest to both countries at the regional and international level and reaffirmed their determination to strengthen joint cooperation and coordination, and continue their support for all initiatives that establish peace and stability in the region. and in the world. .

The two parties reiterated their repudiation and condemnation of deliberate attacks on the Holy Qur’an and stressed the importance of joint efforts to spread the values ​​of dialogue, tolerance and coexistence, to reject hatred, extremism and exclusion, and to prevent the abuse of all religions and holy places.

YEMEN CRISIS

Regarding Yemen, the two sides stressed the importance of giving full support to the United Nations and regional efforts to find a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis. The Turkish side praised the Kingdom’s efforts and initiatives to promote dialogue and reconciliation between the Yemeni parties, and the role played in ensuring and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to all regions of Yemen.

The two sides also reaffirmed their full support for the Presidential Leadership Council of the Republic of Yemen. The two sides appreciated the efforts of the United Nations to strengthen adherence to the ceasefire and stressed the importance of the Houthis’ positive participation and serious commitment to peace initiatives and efforts at the United Nations and international efforts aimed at end the Yemeni crisis.

RELATIONS WITH IRAN

The Turkish side welcomed the resumption of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Iran and expressed the hope that this step would contribute to strengthening security and stability in the region in a way that would preserve the sovereignty of States and the principle of non-interference. in their internal affairs.

The two sides stressed the importance of Iran’s commitment to the peace of its nuclear program and its transparent cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency. They also stressed the importance of contributing to efforts that lead to comprehensive negotiations involving the countries of the region and addressing the sources of threats to regional and international peace and security.

Saudi Arabia expressed its appreciation and support for the development of relations between the brothers Turkey and Egypt.

EXPLANATION OF PALESTINE AND SUDAN

The two sides discussed the developments in the Palestinian cause and expressed their condemnation of the continued Israeli attacks and provocations in the occupied Palestinian territories; They stressed the need to intensify efforts to ensure that the Palestinian cause achieves a comprehensive peace and a just solution based on the Arab Peace Initiative and related international legitimacy resolutions, ensuring the right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state on the base of the 1967 Borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Regarding the situation in Sudan, both parties stressed the importance of the commitment of the parties to the conflict to a lasting ceasefire, referring to the Jeddah Declaration signed on May 11, 2023 (commitment to protect civilians in Sudan ) and other regional initiatives. Turkey and Saudi Arabia encouraged both sides to stick to political dialogue towards a sustainable solution to the conflict and also to take necessary measures to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.

They also stressed that a solution to the Sudanese crisis can only be achieved through a genuine intra-Sudan Sudanese political process that respects Sudan’s sovereignty and unity, while preserving Sudanese state institutions. The two sides stressed the need to intensify international efforts to support the humanitarian response in Sudan and the importance of alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people.

RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR

Regarding the war in Ukraine, the two sides stress the importance of ending the war through negotiations and on the basis of international law, prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic solutions, and making every effort to reduce tensions. and limit the negative repercussions of this crisis. in a way that contributes to restoring security and stability, they stressed.

They appreciated the humanitarian aid and the initiatives provided by the two brother countries as a contribution to alleviate the pain of the crisis. In this regard, the two parties underlined the importance of the Black Sea Initiative, which supports global food security and ensures the stability of food prices.”
