The article that regulates the purchase of MTV for the second time passed Parliament
With the Amendment of the Additional Tax on Motor Vehicles (MTV) for the Compensation of Economic Losses Caused by Earthquakes on February 6, 2023, which the AKP introduced in 17 articles in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, but it increased to 29 with the articles added in the Plan and Budget Commission. A Reform Bill and Decree Law No. 375 are under discussion.
WILL BE TAKEN TWICE
Under the first clause of the offer, MTV will double this year “for one time.”
Although the logic of the AKP was to create resources to compensate for the destruction caused by the earthquake, the opposition criticized why this destruction was not provided with the aid collected after the earthquake.
30 BILLION LIRA OF RESOURCES WILL BE PROVIDED
With the acquisition of MTV once again this year, it is expected to create a resource of 30 billion lira. Recalling the aid collected after the earthquake with respect to MTV in his comment to this proposal, which was accepted by the Opposition, Plan and Budget Commission, he said: “The amount of aid promised but not collected in the campaigns carried out in the programs of TV post-earthquakes on February 6 is $38.5 billion, which is expressed in motor vehicle tax, it’s close to a pound. Therefore; The first thing to do is to collect the promised support amounts on the TV screens of the relevant parties. If they do not meet their commitments, these individuals and organizations must also be disclosed to the public.
“UNCONSTITUTIONAL”
The opposition, arguing that buying MTV a second time is also unconstitutional, recalled the Constitutional Court’s decision on a similar issue. In the aforementioned sentence of the Supreme Court, it is unconstitutional to collect the tax for the second time, subsection 2 of the Constitution is contrary to articles 2, 10 and 73, it must be repealed”.
