The time for medicine has come.

VAT on medicines increased to 10 percent, pharmacists reacted

Nurten Saydan, president of the All Pharmacists Employers Union (TEIS), said VAT on vitally important products should be reduced to a token value to ensure financial monitoring.

Saydan, in his written statement, recalled that with the legal regulation, the VAT rate on pharmaceutical products has been increased from 8 percent to 10 percent, effective as of today.

RISING DRUG PRICES WILL BRING A BURDEN

Arguing that the new regulation will impose a burden on both SSI and citizens and pharmacists, Saydan made the following assessments:

“VAT on vitally important products must be reduced to a symbolic value to ensure financial control. The drug is an extremely important need for human health and treatment, which cannot be postponed and there is no product to replace it.

The VAT increase will bring an extra financial burden for our state, which is the largest buyer of drugs in our country, as well as an additional burden for our citizens, who are struggling for their livelihood, due to the increase that will be reflected. in the contribution and differences that they will pay. Both us pharmacists and SSI will have to bear the loss of this increased VAT charge.

Developed countries have realized this situation and apply taxes on vital products such as medicines in the reimbursement system of the states as zero or 1 percent VAT. With the change in the VAT rate, the prices of 14,900 types of medicines will increase again. We would like to share with our citizens that this increase was not caused by us.” (AA)
