56 percent of claimants did not receive unemployment benefits
56.63 percent of those who applied for unemployment benefit between January and May did not deserve to receive the subsidy. According to data from the monthly newsletter of the Turkish Employment Agency (Iskur), 302,081 people were entitled to receive the subsidy, which was applied by 696,630 people in total. In other words, 43.36 percent of the applications for unemployment benefits were able to receive the subsidy, obtaining a positive result.
16.76 percent of the applicants for the subsidy in the first 5 months of the year came from 11 provinces affected by the earthquakes centered in KahramanmaraÅŸ. In these 11 provinces, while applications for unemployment benefits multiplied, the number of those who deserved it remained very low.
67 PERCENT DID NOT DELIVERY
In said period, 116,814 people in 11 provinces applied for the subsidy, while the number of people who could receive the subsidy was 37,878. 67.57 percent of those who applied for unemployment benefits in seismic provinces could not receive the subsidy.
Applications multiply in seismic provinces
The number of unemployment in the provinces most affected by the earthquakes centered on Kahramanmaraş doubled compared to the previous year. While 8 thousand 72 people applied for unemployment benefits in January-May 2022 in Kahramanmaraş, this number increased to 16 thousand 738 in the same period this year. In the same period, the number of applications increased from 7,809 to 17,184 in Hatay, from 3,606 to 7,072 in Adıyaman, from 6,19 to 11,386 in Malatya.
