US Treasury Secretary’s message to China on cooperation in the fight against climate change
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called climate change an “existential threat” and invited China to tackle it together.
According to the CNN report, Yellen discussed the fight against climate change with climate experts she met during her visit to Beijing.
‘EXISTENTIAL THREAT’
Stating that China and the US, despite differences of opinion on many issues, the two countries should work together on global issues, Yellen said:
“As the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases and the largest investors in renewable energy, we share the responsibility and the ability to lead. Climate change tops the list of global problems. The United States and China must work together to counter this existential threat.” (AA)
