Don’t play with our bread

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), 6-month inflation, which is the critical data for civil servants and retirees, remained at 19.77 percent. Many retirees, who earn less than the minimum wage, reacted by saying that there is a big difference between bazaar-market inflation and official inflation. Retirees, who want their salaries to be at least 15 thousand lire, called TUIK and said: “Don’t play with our bread.”

A pensioner, to whom SÖZCÜ held out a microphone, said: “I don’t have bread, I’m full, brother! You can also fill your stomach with bread, but living as a human is another matter. You will either get up from your seat or give the retiree his due. Inflation will fall first for the value of the increase to appreciate. Such an economy cannot be managed, ”he said.

Speaking to SÖZCÜ, the retirees said: “Don’t give it to my brother… Let them keep that money for themselves… I don’t give my brother my right!” he rebelled. Retirees struggling to earn a living expect a take-home pay increase based on TUIK figures.

“Such an economy cannot be managed”

Suleiman Bingol: “After you can’t control the prices in the market, going up as much as you want means nothing. The price of everything is too high. The price of everything will go up again after the wage increases. An economy like this cannot be managed”.

The bread cost 8 lire.

Bayram Kaplakarslan: “I calculated; My salary will be around 8,800 TL. A loaf cost 8 lire… I teach children at the university. This is the fate of the retiree. It happened because they brought people who did not know the job to the head of the economy.”

We must live as humans.

Ahmet Gedik: “I’m not justifying myself, brother! If they have the right, let them take it away from me, let them pay for it! I want to live like a human being, I don’t want anything else. It’s not ‘I eat bread, I’m full’ brother! You can also fill your stomach with bread, but living as a human is something else”.

don’t make us suffer

Ercüment Kılıçarslan: “This inflation is not real. Everything went up to 100 percent. So they adjust… They shake low and low… How much is real inflation; 100 percent or 150 percent; it should rise as much as inflation. Don’t hurt anyone.”
