Producer prices in the Eurozone fell in May
The producer price index (PPI) in the euro zone fell 1.9 percent monthly in May.
The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) has published the PPI data for May for the European Union (EU) and the Eurozone.
According to the data, the PPI in the EU decreased by 1.8 percent in May compared to the previous month and by 0.5 percent compared to May 2022.
In the Euro Zone, the PPI fell 1.9 percent monthly and 1.5 percent annually in May.
THE MARKET DECREASED MORE THAN EXPECTATIONS
Market expectations were that the PPI in the euro zone would decline by 1.8 percent per month and 1.3 percent annually. Thus, the PPI fell more than expected in the Euro Zone.
Among EU countries, the PPI increased the most in Hungary at 36.3 percent, Slovakia at 21 percent and Latvia at 12 percent in May. The annual PPI fell 10.6 percent in Greece, 9.7 percent in Ireland and 9.6 percent in Belgium. (AA)
