At the beginning of May, purchase prices for fresh tea had risen 64 percent compared to the previous year. Following the rise in tea purchasing prices, dry tea prices also increased in June.

After the purchase prices of fresh tea, which increased in early May, prices of tea in dry Çaykur increased by 43 to 45 percent. According to the authorities, Çaykur is expected to go on a new trek in September or October.

TEA PURCHASE PRICES BEFORE ELECTIONS RISE

During the electoral process, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the purchase price of fresh tea at the rally in Rize on May 3.

President Erdoğan said: “You know, last year we bought 7 lira per kilo of fresh tea with the support payment. With the support payment for this year, we are increasing the purchase price of fresh tea by 64 percent per kilo to 11 lira 30 cents.”
