Appliance sales rose 33 percent in May

Domestic home appliance sales across six major products in Turkey increased 33 percent in May compared to a year earlier.

The Turkish Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (TÜRKESD) announced the White World newsletter for May 2023.

According to data from TÜRKESD, exports of home appliances increased by 41 percent in May compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to 2.7 million units. In the first 5 months of the year, exports decreased by 13 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

PRODUCTION AND DOMESTIC SALES

Home appliance production in May rose 24 percent on-year to 2.87 million units. In the first 5 months of the year, production did not vary with respect to the same period of the previous year.

While domestic sales rose 33 percent in May, the year-over-year increase in the January-May period was 18 percent.

Gökhan Sığın, Chairman of the TÜRKESD Board of Directors, said: “After a busy and uncertain period, we can say with satisfaction that our May 2023 data paints a promising picture. With the arrival of the summer period, we recorded significant growth in our domestic sales in May.”
