Bread prices rise in July
Halil İbrahim Balcı, President of the Turkish Federation of Bakers, announced that bread prices in Turkey will be between 7 and 7.5 lira from the beginning of July.
Making a statement at the Federation headquarters in Ankara, Balcı said: “It was said that in 2022, the price of bread would be 10 lira. However, despite all the negativities, we sold bread at 5 lire,” he said.
“Considering the increase in flour prices, the increase in the minimum wage and the increase in operating expenses, bakers will remain at the most reasonable level of increase. Starting in July, the price of bread between 200 grams and 210 grams will be between 7 and 7.5 lire”.
THE BREAD IS 10 TL?
Balcı also made statements on whether the bread will be 10 lira or not.
Balcı said: “There is no doubt that the price of bread will be 10 lira.” I think it will not exceed 35.5 lira at most, ”he said.
Balci continued:
“In addition, the flour mills began to talk about the prices of bread. It does not seem appropriate to us that people who do not exercise this profession and who do not have the authority to declare, inform them about bread, which is the main food of our people.
It is extremely wrong for the president of Harineros to rule on the prices of bread. His explanation must be based on flour prices.
As a result of our work, it is not possible for the price of bread to be 10 lire”.
