Venezuela will join the Russian Mir payment system

The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, affirmed that they will be included in the Russian Mir payment system in order to reduce the impact of economic sanctions against his country.

In his intervention in a program, Maduro affirmed that they are trying to join new international payment systems in the face of the unjust sanctions to which Venezuela is exposed, and said: “The Central Bank of Venezuela gave the good news that we will join the Mir payment system, which was created by Russia and used by many countries of the world.”

Emphasizing that new payment systems are an alternative to sanctions, Maduro said: “New payment systems are emerging in the world. Cruel and murderous sanctions have been imposed on Venezuela, they are trying to isolate us economically from the world. Now we are working on new payment systems and the new world has new monetary systems,” he said.
