The struggle for livelihood moved to the flea market
akp The economic crisis created by government policies is deepening. Faced with a new walk every day, the citizen began to buy at the market to be able to meet their expenses in the most appropriate way. CHP’s Gürsel Tekin also visited a flea market in Tuzla, Istanbul, to draw attention to the problems experienced by citizens and traders. Underlining the price increases in the market, Tekin said that the prices in the market increased by 100 percent in three months. Saying “I don’t know what price we’ll be facing next week,” Tekin’s visits to traders and citizens in the market once again revealed the extent of the economic crisis.
‘SUCH POVERTY HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN’
One citizen who said he worked for minimum wage, reacted to the facts by saying, “I’m trying to find something out of the junk and somehow make it cheap” because we don’t have the purchasing power. Another citizen, who said that he bought pants for 10 TL in the market, said: “We will buy pants for 10 TL and wear them. is there any other solution? Is there money? I bought 10TL. What should we do, these are the conditions, ”he said. Another citizen, describing his financial difficulties, said: “There are four children at home. What will happen? Being a driver, I can’t make a living. The salary is not enough. We pick up scrap metal,” he said. Another citizen said: “I have never seen anything like this. Such poverty has never been seen before.” One of the citizens that Gürsel Tekin heard said: “This man deceived us” and said: “In what way did he deceive us? The man went out; Allah the Prophet spoke from the Qur’an. He read the Qur’an. What has happened now?” he said. Gürsel Tekin also heard the problems of the traders at the Tuzla flea market. In reaction to the current situation, a trader said: “Our pensioners preferred to buy 2 thousand TL. If we had bought 15 thousand TL, we would have the opportunity to shop comfortably here. I would buy goods at affordable prices. I gave you 250 TL cash. It is 1:00 p.m., I still haven’t earned 250 TL. If we can replace the money with our goods, what about what can we buy?” he said.
‘A bread costs 7 TL’
Citizens, who shared their problems with CHP’s Gürsel Tekin, reacted to daily hikes and wrong policies. One of the citizens in the market stressed that now he had to do second-hand shopping and said: “What is the reason? People have no purchasing power. 7TL for a loaf of bread. His head is gone. The people are in the palace.
I don’t live,” he said.
Different price tags appear every week.
Drawing attention to the price increases on the market, Gürsel Tekin said: “Let me also underline that there is a 100 percent difference between the prices of 3 months ago and the current prices on the market. “I don’t know what price we’ll be facing next week,” she said.
