Retirees want a vacation bonus as much as the minimum wage

DİSK Retirement-Sen Eskişehir branch president Suat Başaraner said that the holiday bonus should be changed under the name of ‘retirement bonus’ and that it should be upgraded to two bonuses a year, so that it does not fall below the salary minimal in any way.

Stating that the inflation figures announced by TURKSTAT do not reflect the truth, Suat Başaraner said: “The annual inflation rate, which was rapidly and constantly reduced by the fabricated statistics institution, was announced at 39.59 percent. This rate, which is announced accepting the price of natural gas as zero, whose weight is 2.9 percent in the inflation item basket, is not even remotely related to real or perceived inflation. In fact, DİSK-AR calculated that food inflation for retirees was 66.9 percent. The huge gap between them signals that they will continue to condemn millions of retirees and beneficiaries to wages below the hunger limit.

However, this bond will not allow us to equalize our rent, reduce our debt, or allow meat to come to our table. However, the objective of the vacation bonus is for retirees to breathe a little; is to get them to celebrate the holidays with their children and grandchildren with peace of mind. In this state, the Christmas bonus has become a meaningless payment, disconnected from its purpose. Entering a negative balance on each holiday and leaving each holiday with a little more trouble; Meeting each new party a little poorer and a little more bittersweet should not be seen, not seen for retirees. Our request is also clear on these holidays. This bonus must be changed to the name of ‘retirement bonus’, not ‘vacation bonus’, and it must be updated to two bonuses per year, so that it is not less than the minimum wage in any case.
