TİSK President Minimum Wage Statement: We are in Turkey, we will talk in TL

Before the minimum wage negotiations that will start tomorrow, TİSK President Özgür Burak Akkol met with Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan.

Speaking after the meeting, Akkol said: “Our view is to complete this process quickly with a tripartite agreement. My personal wish is to complete the process before the party,” he said.

FORMER MINISTER SAID 500 DOLLARS

Former Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin made a statement on the minimum wage increase in July, “There will be a fee of about $500.” While talking about the level of 12 thousand lire with the welfare structure that is expected to be added to salaries, the agenda of the workers’ representatives is inflation and the purchasing power of currency prices.

Making statements that Vedat Bilgin, former Minister of Labor and Social Security, will increase the minimum wage to the level of $500 and the interim increase will take place in July, Akkol said: “We are in Turkey, we will talk about TL.”

The commission takes into account exchange rates and takes into account purchasing power. More than a hundred parameters are evaluated. There is goodwill, inflation is going down.

Despite this, we agree to a provisional increase. We are in Türkiye, we will speak in TL.

We have transferred to our minister the issue of increasing and continuing employer support. We believe it is important to increase this support to reduce the burden on the employer.”
