The seller wins, not the producer.
Agricultural credit cooperative markets, which President Erdoğan bought and said: “The prices are very reasonable”, are on the agenda with price increases.
TMO announced the prices of the grains, but the prices did not satisfy the producers. Grain products in the Crédito Agrícola markets have increased exorbitantly.
CHP Adıyaman MP Abdurrahman Tutdere said: “When you look at the price given to farmer-produced wheat and barley and the price increases for products produced from wheat, a sad picture emerges. Wheat increased by 36 percent and barley by 27 percent. Products in the Crédito Agrícola markets increased by 215 percent,” he said.
Bulgur for rice, which was lira 13.90 last year, rose 58 percent to lira 22, bread 2.5 lira to lira 5, and wheat flour 9.50 lira to lira 16 with an increase of 68 percent.
PAST THREE LETTERS
Stating that TMO’s announced prices were insufficient to meet growers’ expectations, Tutdere said: “Despite the 36 percent increase, advertised prices fell short of growers’ expectations. Wheat increased by 36 percent and barley by 27 percent, while produce sold in the markets of the Cooperativa de Crédito Agrícola, which claims to be a peasant organization, increased by as much as 215 percent,” He said.
“Even in Farm Credit Union Markets, which need to protect our farmers’ products against adverse market conditions rather than profitability, how will the farmer breathe in the free market when this is the case?
The Farm Credit Cooperative Markets, established by the government for price stability, topped three letters in love of snow. The increase the government sees for the farmer is 36 percent, the increase in their own market is 215 percent.
The disproportionate increase in the prices of cereals and manufactured products will create a balance problem between the agricultural sector and consumers. Sustainability in the agricultural sector will be compromised.”
