North Road acquires Turkish production company Karga Seven Pictures
Hollywood producer Peter Chernin announced that his company has acquired Turkish film and television company Karga Seven Pictures as part of one of North Road’s first major international acquisitions.
Based in Los Angeles-Istanbul, Karga Seven is known for its popular English-language period drama “Rise of Empires: Ottoman”, one of the best series on Netflix, and “Midnight at Pera Palas” in the historical period drama genre. .
North Road and Crow Seven Pictures did not disclose the value of the purchase agreement.
“Given the volume of high-quality, globally relevant content, Turkey is a perfect fit for North Road’s global international strategy and the acquisition of Karga 7 is a significant success,” said Chernin, North Road’s President and CEO.
Karga Seven founders Sarah Wetherbee, Emre Şahin and Kelly McPherson will remain in their executive roles, while Wetherbee and Şahin will serve as co-CEOs.
McPherson will head the English content unit along with Ömer Müjdat Özgüner, who has just started as the company’s general manager in Turkey. (Reuters)
