The president of the federation announced the cheapest slaughter prices
Turkish Butchers Federation President Osman Yardimci made a statement on cattle and sheep prices ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha. The assistant said that the small cattle will start from 7 thousand TL and the cattle will start from 84 thousand TL.
A few days before Eid al-Adha, the wealth and prices of sheep and cattle in Turkey became a topic of curiosity. Last year, approximately 1 million head of cattle and 22 million sheep and goats were sold during Eid al-Adha.
‘PRICES ARE LOOKING AT LAST YEAR’
Evaluating the slaughter rate of sheep and cattle in 2023, the president of the Turkish Federation of Butchers, Osman Yardimci, stated that the number of animals is sufficient.
Noting that there are 20 million cattle and 64 million sheep in Turkey, Yardimci drew attention to meat prices. Stating that the prices are normal, the vice president said that the live weight price of slaughtered sheep and cattle is between 140-160 TL.
The assistant said: “The prices are a little higher than last year. Prices have increased due to feed and livestock costs, but it is not abnormal. There was no increase in meat last year. I just received a 100 percent raise. In the market, live sheep and goats are between 140-160 TL, and cattle are between 150-160 TL,” he said.
MINIMUM 84 THOUSAND LIRA
In addition to the kilogram prices, Osman Yardimir also announced the minimum amount that will go out to buy a sacrifice from the citizen’s pocket.
Noting that qurban markets will start to establish themselves in the near future, Yarım said, “If you try to buy a ram, it is 7-8 thousand TL at worst, and the stock price of cattle varies between 12-15 thousand TL at least. Considering that cattle slaughter is 7 shares, the price of a cattle slaughter will be a minimum of 84 thousand TL this year,” he said.
Noting that meat prices are normal according to market conditions and that citizens should not believe speculations made before Eid al-Adha, Osman Yardimci said that this problem can be eliminated by supporting family businesses.
Noting that family businesses are supported in Europe, Yavaş added that the government should support this method as quickly as possible. (DHA)
