TPAO can cooperate with SOCAR in the Sakarya gas field
Melih Han Bilgin, General Manager of Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO), said that they can cooperate with Azerbaijan’s public energy company SOCAR in the Sakarya natural gas field and in return TPAO can participate in projects in the Sea Caspian.
Answering questions from reporters ahead of the energy forum to be held tomorrow in Baku, Bilgin stated that they are open to cooperation with SOCAR on offshore exploration and extraction projects in Turkey, saying, “There are projects in which that we can cooperate with SOCAR not only in Azerbaijan but also in Turkey. In the sea, in the open sea. We consider this at the table with SOCAR. Turkey wants to act together with SOCAR on the works that are in its own open sea.”
PROJECT INFORMATION WAS NOT GIVEN
When asked, Bilgin stated that the two companies could work together on the Sakarya gas field project, saying: “Co-production, joint development, search for partners (can be on the topics). TPAO can do business with SOCAR in Turkey, and in return, TPAO can do business with SOCAR in the Caspian Sea.”
Bilgin did not give information about the projects that could cooperate with SOCAR in Azerbaijan.
TPAO is the second largest shareholder in Shah Deniz, one of Azerbaijan’s main natural gas fields, with 19 percent. The company also owns about 6 percent of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil field. (Reuters)
