Railway workers in France protested against the EU

Railway workers in France protested before the Commission of the European Union (EU), which decided to return the aid received by the company they work for, considering it illegal, considering that it would decrease their income.

According to images reflected on social media, assembled railway workers with union flags in hand raided the EU Commission office in the capital, Paris.

The employees protested before the Commission, which decided to return the approximately 5,300 million euros of aid benefited by their companies, considering that it goes against EU laws, considering that it would make their work difficult and reduce their income.

The crowd, which was seized by the police, then marched towards the touristy Champs Elysées street.

The demonstrators, who broke the barricade erected by the police on the route, stormed the symposium near the Champs Elysees, which was attended by the Minister of Transport, Clement Beaune.

Protesters lit torches and chanted slogans inside.

On the other hand, the French press announced that Minister Beaune will meet today with the union representatives of the railway workers.

The EU Commission decided to repay 5.3 billion euros of aid received by SNCF Fret, the freight transport unit of the French railway company SNCF, in 2007-2019.
