The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the construction permit statistics for the first quarter: January-March 2023.

Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, in the first quarter of 2023, the number of departments for which municipalities issued building permits increased by 0.7 percent, while the number of buildings decreased by 9.2 percent. percent and the area decreased by 2.1 percent.

While the total area of ​​the buildings, whose construction permits were granted by the municipalities in the first quarter of 2023, is 26.7 million square meters; Of these, 14.2 million square meters were residential, 7.1 million square meters non-residential, and 5.4 million square meters of common use area.

Residential buildings with two or more dwellings concentrate the largest share of surface area with 16.9 million square meters, depending on the destination of use of the buildings, whose construction permits were granted by the municipalities in the first quarter of 2023. One-story buildings with 2.5 million square meters followed.

REDUCED BUILDING PERMITS

Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, in the first quarter of 2023, the number of buildings with occupancy authorization by the municipalities decreased by 10.5 percent, the number of dwellings by 19.0 percent and the surface 17.2 percent.

While the total area of ​​the buildings, for which the municipalities issued occupancy permits in the first quarter of 2023, is 25.2 million square meters; Of these, 14.4 million square meters were residential, 5.2 million square meters non-residential, and 5.7 million square meters of common use area.

Buildings with an occupancy license issued by municipalities in the first quarter of 2023 have the largest share with 18.7 million square meters, with residential buildings with two or more dwellings. Industrial buildings and warehouses followed with 1.6 million square meters.
