EU “end of war” requirement for Russia’s SWIFT access request
The European Union (EU) declared that the Russian bank, which conducts the grain trade, can only reopen its access to the SWIFT system after the Ukraine war ends.
According to the news in the Russian newspaper Izvestia, EU Foreign Affairs spokesman Peter Stano said that if the EU’s war with Ukraine ends, Russia’s public agricultural bank can open its access to the SWIFT payment system.
EXTENDED GRAIN AGREEMENT
Last week, the Black Sea grain deal, which allowed for the safe export of agricultural products from Ukraine, was extended for another two months.
However, Russia would like to see further progress in including parts of the agreement, such as the reintegration of Rosselkhozbank into the SWIFT system. (Reuters)
