Step ‘Safe product’ of the Ministry of Commerce
The Ministry of Commerce will inform companies to sell safe products in the market.
In this context, “Safe Product Advisory Offices” were established within the customs and foreign trade departments in order to ensure that the products to be placed on the market meet the required security conditions.
The basic rules regarding the safety of products marketed in Turkey are implemented within the scope of the “Product Safety and Technical Regulations Law” which came into force in March 2021.
With the law, while the procedures and principles related to placing products on the market, conformity assessment, market surveillance and inspection are determined, it is stipulated that safe products that comply with technical regulations are marketed.
PRODUCTS IN THE DOMESTIC MARKET AND EXPORT PRODUCTS
The law intends that the products subject to foreign trade and that are supplied to the domestic market must meet the minimum safety conditions required in terms of human health, safety of life and property, animal and plant life and health, environment and consumer protection, and comply with technical standards and be safe.
With the aforementioned Law, it is foreseen that the authorized public institution establishes a help desk in matters of product safety where claims can be made or information collected on the issues contemplated in the law when necessary, and that this unit discloses in a timely manner the relevant topics. within its scope and contact details.
Within the scope of this provision of the Law, the Ministry of Commerce has set up desks under the name of “Safe Product Consultation Office” within the regional customs and foreign trade offices.
In these offices it is intended to provide support to companies that operate in related sectors for product groups under the responsibility of the Ministry, in compliance with technical legislation.
Thus, it is intended to guarantee that the products supplied to the market are safe, protect consumers more effectively, increase awareness in the field of product safety, support national production, especially for manufacturers and exporters, and increase value export. -products added.
PRODUCTS FOR CHILDREN ARE ALSO INCLUDED
In this context, child use and care activities are responsible for products such as detergents, air fresheners, auxiliary chemicals used in pool water, paper products, stationery products, textiles, toys, toothbrushes, pacifiers and baby bottles, shoes and other consumer products. of the Ministry It is expected to provide support to manufacturers, exporters and importers.
