Albemarle already has another location in the Netherlands, albeit not for lithium production. Since 2004, the company has owned a chemical plant in Amsterdam-Noord where raw materials for other chemical companies and refineries, so-called catalysts, are produced. De Boer says he can say little about possible locations, a possible candidate is the port of Rotterdam.
