Eurozone industrial production fell in March
Industrial production in the Euro Zone decreased 4.1 percent in March compared to the previous month.
The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) announced seasonally adjusted industrial production data for March for the European Union (EU) and the Eurozone.
Consequently, industrial production in the Eurozone decreased by 4.1 percent in March compared to February and 1.4 percent compared to March 2022.
Industrial production in the EU decreased by 3.6 percent in March compared to the previous month and by 1.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
FALL EXCEEDED EXPECTATION
Market expectations pointed to a 2.5% monthly drop in euro area industrial production in March. In the latest data, the drop in industrial production was well above expectations.
In March, the largest monthly decline in industrial production among EU countries was seen in Ireland at 26.3 percent, Sweden at 3.9 percent and Germany at 3.1 percent.
Industrial production decreased the most in Ireland at 26.1%, Lithuania at 16.6% and Estonia at 12.6% per year. (AA)
