According to the calculation made on food prices, the monthly expense necessary for a healthy diet for a family of 4 amounted to 12,335 lira in April 2023. The poverty line has also increased to 39,652 lira. The cost of living for a single employee was 16,650 TL.
PUBLIC WORKER UNDER THE FUNGER LIMIT
According to BES-AR determinations, a 10-year-old permanent employee, wife and married, with two children, is trying to live below the starvation limit on a salary of 11,200 lira with income tax cuts.
A worker with two children, whose wife is unemployed, in the public sector for 20 years, continues his life with a salary of 14 thousand 760 liras, close to the poverty line, with a salary of one third of the poverty line , along with the income tax cuts in April.
In the statement of the Office Workers Union, “we say that there are no workers who receive wages below the poverty line in the public sector, but there are workers who receive wages even below the hunger line. The cost of a healthy diet exceeded 411 lira per day. In 2023, the minimum wage remained below the poverty line. The lowest pension is below the hunger limit,” the statement said.
