Strike decision at the Istanbul Development Agency

Workers who are members of the Tez Koop-İş Union working at the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA) today started a strike against unionlocalsan employer’s wage increase offer.

The strike was started by the workers gathered in the Odakule building on Beyoğlu Istiklal street in the morning.

In the statement made by İSTKA employees, the collective agreements are in the renewal phase; He indicated that although their salaries are indexed to the salary increase rates of civil servants, a salary increase of 6 points below this rate is expected, for which reason they have declared a strike.

“We are the workers of the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA), who work hard for the development of Istanbul and thus Turkey. We are highly skilled, young and dynamic workers who signed the biggest budget projects in Turkey.

“As public workers, our salaries are indexed to the rates of salary increase for civil servants. However, in the proposal made by YERELSAN, an increase of 6 percentage points below the salary increase of civil servants is foreseen for the salaries of workers working in ISTKA.

‘EVEN OUR MEMBER ITO ANNOUNCES AN INFLATION OF 92.97 PERCENT’

Underlining that even the 30 percent increase is a very low rate for Istanbul, reference was made to the inflation data that is regularly announced every month by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), a member of the ISTKA board of directors.
