Statement on Pensions and Minimum Wage by Minister Bilgin

Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, said: “We will reassess in July and determine a minimum wage that will protect workers.” saying. Bilgin had this to say about pensions:

“There are around 15 million retirees in Türkiye. The number of people who receive salaries of less than 7,500 lire is around 9.5 million. With the latest regulation, we have made an arrangement that allows these 9,500,000 people to breathe a little, by bringing the lowest pension to 7,500 lira.

Apart from this, we made an arrangement regarding the retirement of more than 5 million people. There was some discomfort with them. Now we are working on a regulation for those who receive salaries greater than 7,500 lira. We have finished our work. Since parliament is in recess, we will put it into practice in July. Details will be announced by our President. We will make a comprehensive arrangement, which includes 7,500 lira.”
