Demand for cheap meat from TESK for butcher shops
Turkish Trades and Crafts Confederation (TESK) Chairman Bendevi Palandöken stated that carcass prices applied to retailers by the Meat and Milk Institution (ESK) should also apply to butchers and He said: “Our butchers are waiting for that opportunity to sell cheap meat.”
In his written statement, Palandoken argued that it was wrong for IHC to sell cheap carcass meat to retailers.
Noting that butchers should be included in practice to ensure stability in red meat prices, Palandöken said:
‘NOT JUST FOR RETAILERS’
“Meat prices can be regulated in the market if cheap carcass meat, which will be delivered to retailers, is also delivered to butchers to stabilize recently increased red meat prices. Carcass prices given only to retailers should also apply to butchers.
Our butchers are waiting for that opportunity to sell cheap meat. Otherwise, this practice creates double standards and the red meat market cannot be regulated in this way.
Such a practice is contrary to the principle of equality of the Constitution and of article 173 of the Constitution on the protection of merchants and artisans.” (AA)
