Bad news for chain markets from court

Judicial rejection of cases of cancellation of chain markets

In the lawsuits filed by 5 market chains and 1 supplier company with the request for suspension of execution and cancellation of the administrative sanction imposed on them by the Competition Board, a resolution was rejected.

The Competition Board imposed a total administrative fine of 2.7 billion lira on 5 market chains and 1 supplier company in 2021 in the investigation carried out on market chains and supplier companies to examine the price behavior during the coronavirus epidemic process.

The companies in question filed a claim with the Ankara 7th Administrative Court for the stay of enforcement and annulment of the administrative sanction. In court cases, the request for a stay of execution was previously rejected for all companies. The Ankara 7th Administrative Court decided to dismiss all the cases on March 14, 2023. The Board’s decision on the commitments was found to be in accordance with the law. The court’s decision is said to be appealable. (DHA)
