Derya Yanık, Minister of Family and Social Services, said in a statement in 2022: “We paid 271.8 million TL to 366,524 households in the winter period. In our second payment, TL 130.8 million is paid to our 178,261 households. Under the winter period of the Natural Gas Consumption Support Program, we will have provided 402.6 million TL of support to more than 544,000 households before the end of this year,” and announced that 544,000 households needed support from natural gas.

95 thousand houses could not be heated

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources also released the number of households that had their natural gas cut off because their debts were not paid by the end of December 2022 and that entered the New Year without natural gas. According to data from the Ministry, last December the natural gas supply of 95,721 homes, 13,503 businesses and another 244 subscribers was cut off. In total, natural gas was cut off in December for 109,468 homes. In 2020, 840,953 subscribers were cut off for not being able to pay their natural gas bills; In 2021, this number increased to 1,197,227 with a record increase.

In free gas the date is April 20

The date of free natural gas announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was also announced. In this context, it was indicated that the amount will be recorded as zero in the first invoices received as of Thursday, April 20. It was stated that if the bill was issued on Wednesday, April 19, no fee would be charged for the next bill from the same consumer. Along with all this, after the bill issued on April 19, the free bill period for May 19 was announced. It was also reported that the unused portion of 25 thousand cubic meters of free natural gas for one year will not be transferred to the next month.
