30 of 39 products have increased in Ramadan

Şemsi Bayraktar, Chairman of the Turkish Union of Agricultural Chambers (TZOB), made a statement on changes in red meat prices and between producer and market prices during Ramadan.

Bayraktar stated that at the end of Ramadan, market prices increased for 30 of 39 products and decreased for 9 of them.

Stating that breeding animals are in danger of being slaughtered due to increases in meat prices, Bayraktar said: “The dairy farmer should not act on the idea that ‘I will make more money when I cut the animal instead of feeding it. ‘. Therefore, the focus is on supporting our dairy farmers. Otherwise, with the decline in the number of breeding animals, we will have to consume more expensive meat and dairy products.

Bayraktar also stated that the basic approach in animal husbandry should be to increase domestic production, not importation.

DRIED ONION IS ON THE TOP OF RAMzan

Bayraktar stated that as TZOB, they follow changes in food prices, which are closely related to the entire public, from producer to consumer, also during Ramadan, saying, “At the end of Ramadan, there was an increase of prices. in 30 of 39 products and a price decrease in 9 of them. In the last days of Ramadan, the highest price increase in the market was observed in dry onions with 45.2 percent. The onion price increase was followed by green peppers with 28.4 percent, lamb with 27.2 percent, dry beans with 26.4 percent, beef with 24.7 percent and carrots with 22, 4 percent.

Bayraktar, who also made statements about 9 products whose prices dropped, continued as follows:

“The product that lowered its price the most in the market was pumpkin with 24 percent. The fall in the price of zucchini was followed by white cabbage with 17.6 percent, green onion with 12.2 percent, tomato with 7.7 percent, chicken with 4.2 percent percent and lettuce with 3.3 percent.

THE PRICE OF 14 PRODUCTS INCREASES AT THE MANUFACTURER

Bayraktar stated that in the last days of Ramadan, there was no price change in 10 out of 31 products compared to before Ramadan, there was a price decrease in 7 products and a price increase in 14 products.

According to Bayraktar’s information; While there were no changes in the prices of lemons, apples, dried beans, chickpeas, red lentils, green lentils, rice, raisins, dried figs and eggs during Ramadan, the product that decreased the most was white cabbage with 36, 1 percent.

Leeks with 15.2 percent, zucchini with 14.2 percent, green onions with 13.3 percent, cucumber with 9.6 percent, pistachio with 5.1 percent and tomatoes with 4.9 percent followed the fall in the price of white cabbage.

THE PRICE OF POTATOES RISES MORE AT THE MANUFACTURER

The greatest increase in the producer price was observed in potatoes with 65.3 percent. The potato price increase was followed by carrots with 62.5 percent, onion with 41.8 percent, lamb carcasses with 25.5 percent, cauliflower with 25 percent, beef carcasses with 22.5 percent and green peppers with 21 percent.

Bayraktar said: “According to our findings, the product with the highest price increase in Ramadan was onion in the market, potato in the producer, while the product that decreased the most in the market was white cabbage in the producer of pumpkin”.

Bayraktar noted the following regarding the reasons for price changes at the manufacturer:

“Due to the end of the season in the Central Anatolia region, the lack of products in the hands of the growers and the new start of the harvest in the Çukurova region, the prices of dry onions have increased. In cauliflower, the end of the season has caused prices to rise.

The drop in the price of white cabbage and leeks is due to the end of the campaign and the drop in the quality of the product. The decrease in the prices of zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers and green onions was due to the increase in the supply of products with the start of the harvests due to the warmer weather.

The rise in potato prices was due to the decrease in stocks in production areas, as well as the opening of exports and the delay in harvesting due to the cold experienced in the Adana region. The end of the winter carrot harvest, the lack of products in the warehouses and the insufficient planting of summer carrots caused prices to rise.” (AA)
