Minister Kirişci: I agree, the price of meat is high

Agriculture and Forestry Minister Vahit Kirişci argued that the farmers, who stated that they have been in a difficult situation for a long time, are in good economic condition. Although Kirişci said that the price of onion, which is the champion of the last period, will drop in a week, he accepted the high price of meat.

Responding to NTV’s questions at the “AKP Election Declaration and Candidate Presentation Meeting” ahead of the May 14 elections, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci made remarkable remarks.

Although Kirişci affirmed in his statements that the farmer is in good economic conditions, the champions of the rise of the last period also made statements about the prices of onions and meat.

REQUESTED A CONFIDENT PROMISE, SAID GOOD CONDITION

When asked if there were any concrete promises in the AKP’s election manifesto, stating that the past few years have not been good for farmers and that they have struggled due to rising costs, Kirişci said:

“Now we are going to fix something. Currently, our farmers are earning a lot of money. They are in good financial shape. It’s been 13 months since I took office. I held meetings with industry players in 37 provinces. I have not experienced an event that reflects the reaction of 1 farmer, that they can talk about on their screens. That’s what I’m honestly saying,” she said.

DRY ONION DESCRIPTION: WILL FALL IN A WEEK

Dried onion, which became the champion of the rise by quadrupling its price in 2022, also continued to rise this year. While the onion, whose weight is 30 lira per kilo, caused controversy in Istanbul, Minister Kirişci said that prices would drop in a week.

Saying that the onion is in a transition period between winter production and early production, Kirişci said: “There is 1 week. We will see how the onion price falls. We don’t have a supply problem related to production,” he said.

ACCEPT THAT MEAT PRICES ARE HIGH

Minister Kirişci also spoke about the price of beef, which has increased by 19.9% ​​from the previous month and by 60% since the beginning of the year, even according to the latest inflation data announced by the Institute of Statistics. of Turkey (TUIK).

Acknowledging that the price of meat is high, Kirişci said, “Okay, I also agree that the price of meat is high. Feed the animal to the breeder with contracted production. Cut it when it reaches its weight. Whether it is sold in the market or in the butcher’s aisle. Look, this inevitably shortens the chain and removes some malicious people in the middle.”
