Computer sales drop: the biggest loss is at Apple
According to the report released by the International Data Corporation (IDC) on Sunday, there was a 29 percent decline in global PC sales compared to the same period last year. Consequently, PC sales, which were 80.2 million in the same period last year, fell to 56.9 million in the first quarter of 2023.
Computer sales also fell 28.1% in the last quarter of 2022.
THE GREATEST DECREASE IS IN APPLE
In the report, which analyzes the top five computer makers, Apple had the biggest drop in first-quarter sales, which fell 40.5 percent. Dell Technologies Inc came in second, down 31 percent.
IDC reported that Lenovo Group Ltd, Asustek Computer Inc and HP Inc also saw sales decline.
In February, Apple reported that sales of Mac computers, which were booming with the wave of working from home during the pandemic, fell 29 percent to $7.7 billion.
ECONOMIC INDICATORS CAN DETERMINE THE DESTINY OF THE MARKET
While concerns about a slowdown in major economies persist, recent turmoil in the banking sector exacerbates concerns that runaway inflation and tight monetary policy will hamper growth and financial investment.
Linn Huang, vice president of research at IDC, said that if the economy is on the rise by 2024, they expect a significant rise in the market, while the recovery may be difficult if the recession continues in key markets. (Reuters)
