2022 Internet and Phone Scorecard Announced

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that in 2022 more than 319 billion minutes were spoken on the phone and 65.256 million gigabytes of Internet were used.

According to the written statement made by the Ministry, Karaismailoğlu evaluated the “Turkey Electronic Communications Industry Quarterly Market Data Report” for the fourth quarter of 2022.

Stating that the sales revenue of operators operating in the sector reached 130 billion lira in 2022 with an increase of 40.7 percent compared to the previous year, Karaismailoğlu drew attention to the fact that the investments of all operators in the sector increased by 42.7 percent. compared to the previous year and exceeded 31 billion lire.

PORTED MOBILE NUMBERS

Underlining that the number of mobile subscribers reached 90.3 million at the end of last year, Karaismailoğlu said:

“The prevalence of mobile subscribers was 105.9 percent. 82.9 million mobile subscribers preferred 4.5G subscription, which went live in 2016. 4.5G service accounted for 91.8 percent of total subscribers. The number of M2M subscribers reached 8.1 million, showing an annual growth of 8.7 percent. By the end of 2022, the total number of ported mobile numbers exceeded 167.2 million. The number of mobile numbers ported in 2022 was close to 9.6 million.”

NUMBER OF FIBER SUBSCRIBERS 5.7 MILLION

Referring to the number of Internet subscribers, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the total number of broadband Internet subscribers, 71.7 million of which are mobile, increased by 2.5 million in one year to 90.6 million. Karaismailoğlu stated that the fiber infrastructure reached 517.3 thousand kilometers with an increase of 9.8 percent, noting that the number of fiber Internet subscribers increased to 5.7 million with an increase of 17.8 percent.

Karaismailoğlu said: “While the average monthly data usage of fixed broadband subscribers was 204 gigabytes in the last quarter of 2021, this figure increased to 243 gigabytes in the last quarter of 2022. In all of 2022 we use 65 thousand 256 million gigabytes of internet”.

Expressing that 98.5 percent of the total 319.6 billion minutes of traffic is initiated from mobile networks, Karaismailoğlu noted that as of the last quarter of 2022, the average monthly usage time on mobile networks is 549 minutes. . (AA)
