Job openings in the US did not meet expectations
The US Department of Labor has released the JOLTS Open Jobs Count data for February.
Thus, the number of vacancies in the country decreased by 632 thousand in February compared to the previous month and fell to 9 million 931 thousand.
The number of vacant positions, which was lower than expected, was expected to be around 10.4 million in this period.
The number of vacancies below 10 million for the first time since May 2021 was recorded at 10 million 563 thousand in January.
The sectors where the number of job vacancies increased during this period were construction and arts, entertainment and recreation.
Professional and business services, health and wellness, transportation, warehousing, and utilities were the sectors where the number of job openings fell the most.
The number of contracts decreased by 164 thousand in February to 6 million 163 thousand. The number of people who were fired or left their jobs in the country decreased to 5 million 820 thousand with a decrease of 80 thousand people in the same period. (AA)
