Adana Farmers Revolted: Why Do You Allow Sour Lemon Sauce When There Is Natural?

Adana Farmers Union President Mutlu Doğru recalled the new regulation made in the Food Code regarding the production of pomegranate syrup, noting that a similar regulation should be made for the production of lemon juice.

“IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE CONSUMER, THREATENS HEALTH”

President Doğru spoke to SÖZCU as follows:

President of the Adana Farmers Union, Mutlu Dogru

“Lemon sauce” and similar liquids produced from citric acid and used as a substitute for real, natural lemon juice on the market mislead the consumer and threaten the health of our citizens. Although we have abundant and quality lemons grown in our country, it is extremely worrying and sad that chemical products are used instead of natural lemons in the production of these products.

Although the same misfortune was experienced with the product of pomegranate syrup, with the modification of the Food Code published in the Official Gazette, the content and label in the preparation of pomegranate syrup were regulated, and the decision was made to protect the rights of honest industrialists who produce pomegranate syrup and our farmers who produce pomegranate.

“CONSUME NATURAL LEMON JUICE INSTEAD OF ACID”

We want the same decision to be made for lemon juice, which is closely related to our lemon growers, whose density is produced in Adana and Mersin, and we require our consumers to consume fresh lemon or pure lemon juice instead of liquids. containing citric acid. at home and in all kinds of restaurants, cafes and tourist facilities they visit.
