The cost of the earthquake in land and rail transport became clear

The cost of the earthquake for rail transport is 15.3 billion lira.

In the 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes centered on the Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş, 184 kilometers of roads, 1275 kilometers of railways and 17 historic bridges were damaged.

İsmail Hakkı Murtazaoğlu, Deputy Director General of Turkish Republic State Railways (TCDD), announced that the total damage, including line damage and destroyed buildings, cost TL 15.3 billion.

AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE EXPENDITURE OF 807 MILLION TL

The Parliamentary Commission for Earthquake Inquiry met under the chairmanship of AK Afyonkarahisar Party deputy Veysel Eroğlu.

The members of the commission listened to the presentations of the general directorates and presidencies of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Head of Strategy Development Yunus Emre Ayözen said that 807 million 119 thousand TL have been spent so far after the earthquake disaster.

Ayözen affirmed that the total amount foreseen to spend is 34 thousand 932 million lira in the rehabilitation of the damaged structures; He said some 77,000 passengers have been evacuated from the quake zone by 449 passenger trains and 1,466 wagons of relief materials have been delivered to the region by 90 freight trains.

‘184 KILOMETER AFFECTED ON THE ROAD’

On flights from the earthquake zone, Ayözen said: “The State Airports Authority (DHMI) will operate with 8 of the 9 airports in the region first, and then with the repair of Hatay Airport, with 9 airports, 13 thousand 254 domestic flights and 1765 international flights, 15 thousand 19 served 1 million 327 thousand 229 passengers in this region with flights. We delivered 16,411 tons of relief material to the region, again through airlines,” he said.

General Manager of Highways Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said, “Our road network in the earthquake region is 9,176 kilometers and 184 kilometers were affected by the earthquake. Again, 18 percent of our road network in Turkey was affected in this region, and 61 kilometers of it were affected.

Uraloğlu said: “66 kilometers out of 711 kilometers of tunnels are located in this region and 17.3 kilometers of these were affected by the earthquake.”

A 5.1 kilometer stretch of the 2 bridges was also affected by the earthquake. We sent a total of 3,284 machines to the region. Once again, along with these machines, we transferred 4,865 troops to the earthquake zone.

17 of our historic bridges in the region were also affected, and since they are under the responsibility of Highways, we put them here as a separate value.

17 out of a total of 243 bridges were affected. First of all, there are not many precautions to be taken; but we are preparing restoration projects. We will also take the necessary measures against them.”

1275 SQUARE RAILROAD ROOMS OF 11 CITIES AFFECTED

İsmail Hakkı Murtazaoğlu, deputy general manager of TCDD, said a total of 1,275 kilometers of railways passing through 11 earthquake-affected provinces were affected by the disaster.

Noting that the maintenance crews started work right after the earthquake, Murtazaoğlu said, “After the second earthquake, checks were carried out again and the damage conditions were determined. In these sections of line affected by the earthquake, partial renovation works and maintenance and repair of the infrastructure and superstructure were carried out. The 1,212-kilometre section was opened to train traffic. We continue with the rehabilitation and maintenance works of a total of 63 kilometers.

Noting that a total of 3,624 people work in the earthquake-affected provinces, Murtazaoğlu said, “The wagons have been put to use for the shelter needs of our earthquake-affected citizens. Shelter services were provided to 6,000 victims of the earthquake in stations and stations. Logistical support was provided to the earthquake zone with 90 trains and 1,466 wagons.

ONLY MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR COST 4 BILLION TL

Murtazaoğlu, who also provided information on the damage to the lines affected by the earthquake and the TCDD buildings, said: “The damage to the lines in the earthquakes centered on Kahramanmaraş is approximately 11.3 billion lira. A total cost of TL 15.3 billion, or about TL 4 billion, was incurred for the construction of the station and the destroyed station buildings and other facility buildings, and for the maintenance and repair of the damaged ones.
