Oil from Kazakhstan started shipping via Azerbaijan
It has been reported that the transit shipment of oil from Kazakhstan via Azerbaijan via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) tanker line has begun.
In a statement made by the Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR), it was reported that the first batch of oil extracted from Kazakhstan’s Tengiz field was transported to the Sangachal terminal from the port of Aktau by tanker truck on March 23. .
In the statement, it was noted that the shipment was made within the framework of the agreement signed between SOCAR and the company KazMunayGaz of Kazakhstan, which provides for the passage of 1.5 million tons of oil per year.
20 MILLION TONS PLAN
It is claimed that 12 to 14 tanker trips per month are planned over the Caspian Sea until the end of 2023.
The Kazakhstan government, which turned to new routes for oil exports due to the Russia-Ukraine war, announced that it would start shipping via BTC from the Caspian Sea by 2023 and was working on the Baku-Supsa and Baku-Batumi.
Kazakhstan’s President Kasım Cömert Tokayev also announced that they plan to increase the volume of oil transportation on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Central Corridor), where the BTC line is located, to 20 million tons per year. (AA)
