Action against Cengiz Holding by Satera workers
At Satera Elektronik in Istanbul, which was established two years ago with the partnership of Cengiz and Kolin and employs 100 workers producing electricity meters, 8 workers who are members of Joint Metal-İş were laid off.
Workers protested in front of Cengiz Holding in Istanbul at 12:00 today, with the participation of DİSK President Arzu Çerkezoğlu and United Metal-İş President Adnan Serdaroğlu.
In a United Metal-Is statement, “SATERA workers, who make use of their rights derived from legal, constitutional and international agreements, increase their struggle. We took it in front of Cengiz Holding, one of the workplace partners. We once again warn the employers of Cengiz and Kolin.”
THE REASON IS AGAIN
The process began when the workers of SATERA Elektrik Elektronik Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi, located next to the Istanbul airport, became members of Birlesik Metal-Is.
According to the union’s statement, the union, which obtained the majority required by law after almost all workers joined Joint Metal-İş, applied for authorization from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. The Ministry completed the examination of the application and registered that the union is authorized in the workplace.
It was indicated that the first action of the workplace management after the determination of the authority reached the union and the employer was to dismiss 8 workers affiliated with the union.
The resistance that began in front of the factory on March 8 has moved to Cengiz Holding today.
