Rising meat prices also hit lahmacun

The increase in meat prices by up to 50 percent in the last two months causes the price of lahmacun, one of the meat products, to rise. However, the reasons for variable prices in lahmacun according to each district and even district are discussed.

The price of lahmacun sold for 20 lira in Istanbul Esenyurt reaches 85 lira in Başakşehir.

The price of Lahmacun is 30 lira in Güngören, 35 lira in Bağcılar, 50 lira in a restaurant on the same street in Fatih Sultanahmet and 30 lira in another.

While the artisans make a statement about the variable prices, ‘it is due to rent and expenses’, the experts point to the material used in the lahmacun.

‘IF IT SELLS FOR LESS THAN 40 LIRA, IT IS FRAUD’

Ramazan Bingöl, president of the Association of All Restaurants and Tourism (TÜRES), stated that the difference in price is due to both the quality and the location of the restaurant.

The vice president of the Association of Food Inspectors and Food Laboratories (GLADER), Selman Bahadır Orhan, stated that lahmacun sold for less than 40 lira is fraudulent, saying: “In our studies, in the samples we have taken, we have seen that the lahmacun is open to all types. of cheating. It is seen that you can add everything from soy to vegetable proteins, from salts disguised with meat flavor, from organ meats to chicken products”.

‘COST 20 LIRA’

Stating that less than 50 grams of meat cannot be used in classic lahmacun, Orhan said, “In this case, it will have a standard cost of 20 lira. When you put the markup on it, that business can’t run without making money. If you just look at the price index, if you sell lahmacun for less than 40 lira, it’s not possible to have lahmacun with meat,” he said.

“If he sells lahmacun for 20 lira under the current conditions, he is an angel with broken wings or a friend of ours who thinks he is hiding very well. Under these conditions, this is not possible for this to happen,” Orhan said, “When you do laboratory research, we see such camouflageable abuse that you may not even notice, even if you are a very professional eye. We see that what is given to us as meat is grass,” he said.

Lahmacun, which can go up to 85 TL in some restaurants, can go as low as 30 TL, depending on the district.

PRESIDENT OF TÜRES: 85 TL FOR US, THE MATERIALS ARE VERY IMPORTANT

Ramazan Bingöl, president of the Association of All Restaurants and Tourism (TÜRES), made the following assessment:

“Lahmacun prices go up to 100 lira and go down to 20 lira. The rent of the shop in Güngören and the rent of the place in Nişantaşı are not the same.

The material used is very important. The meat is available for 300 lira or 200 lira. The number of staff you employ is very important.

At our restaurant, lahmacun costs 85 lira, but the ingredients we use, brand awareness, and store location affect it.

I can’t say it’s bad for my colleagues, it’s up to the customer to decide, but there is definitely something in the quality of the product. I have a member who sells lahmacun for 80 lira or 30 lira. The meat thing is a bit tricky, but I don’t know how it works for 30 lire if you do it in your own parameter values.”

ONE OPERATOR IN GÜNGÖREN: EVEN 30 TL MORE

Ömer Polat, who has been a trader in Esenyurt for 39 years, said: “The price of lahmacun is now 20 lira. The theme is important. While the rent here is 10 thousand lira, it can be 100 thousand lira in other places. It’s all the same when it comes to meat. I have been in this business for years. Everyone is putting space in the meat,” he said.

Tuncay Güren, manager of another restaurant in Güngören, said: “It saves us 30 lira. There is no need to bore people too much. The meat is all the same, what is the difference? Our butcher is clear, come take a look. We can show our meat, even 30 lira more,” she said.

Seyit Hacıoğulları, the owner of the business, whose price is 35 TL per lahmacun in Bağcılar, said: “Here we rent 20,000 TL, the other gives 200,000 lira. “I don’t believe in the difference in quality,” he said.

CITIZEN WHO EATS EXPENSIVELY BELIEVES IT IS CLEAN

Selin Uzun, who ate lahmacun for 85 lira in Bahçeşehir, Başakşehir, said, “I only eat lahmacun in one place, I don’t trust anywhere else. The price range is also important. 85 lira is expensive, but I think it’s worth it because I think it’s clean. I would not prefer 30 lira lahmacun,” he said.

STORES ARE AGAINST BUT PRICES DIFFER

In Fatih Sultanahmet, the prices of the shops facing each other are also different.

Erhan Pekken, who works at the shop in Sultanahmet, said: “We sell to artisans for 30 lira in Sultanahmet. By saying that Lahmacun doesn’t cost much, it saves us this way,” Gökhan Demir, the clerk at the shop across the street, said, “Lahmacun costs 50 lira. We do not collect money, some sell it for 150 lira. They all use the same meat. They charge extra just because it’s a touristy area. We are not a tourist menu. How much can lahmacun cost? They say that the meat is too much and they get more money, ”he said. (DHA)
