TESK released the demands of the merchants affected by the earthquake
The President of the Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK), Bendevi Palandöken, stated that the merchants, who were affected by the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş and Hatay, conveyed their requests for financial support and deferment of their current debts for 2 years to the relevant ministries.
Palandoken, in his written statement, stated that merchants and artisans in the earthquake region can be raised with grants instead of debt deferment.
‘THE BIGGEST REQUEST FROM BUYERS IS TO POSTPONE DEBTS FOR 2 YEARS’
Recalling that they created an “Earthquake Information Form” in order to identify the damages of the merchants who were negatively affected by the earthquakes and develop projects according to their demands, Palandöken made the following assessments:
“Based on the requests received on this form, which we have posted on our website, the biggest request from our merchants is to provide grant support and postpone current debts for 2 years. In order to resuscitate our merchants and artisans and revive commercial life, support must be given to workplaces according to the damage situation.
On the other hand, because our merchants and artisans are unable to do business at the moment, it is not possible to pay off the current debts. Until the workplaces are up and running again, the existing debts of our merchants, such as Bağ-Kur and SSK, must be postponed for at least 2 years without interest, especially with credit and credit cards.
50.49 PERCENT OF BUSINESSES ARE SEVERELY DAMAGED
Palandoken also demanded the implementation of practices that allow merchants in the earthquake zone to benefit from all health services, including the right to retirement and medicines.
Expressing that they shared the data obtained from the Earthquake Information Form with the relevant ministries, Palandöken said, “According to this, 31.22 percent of merchants’ businesses in the earthquake zone are slightly damaged, 18.29 percent percent moderately damaged and 50.49 percent severely damaged. Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Malatya were the provinces with the highest number of applications.
