THE AVERAGE AGE OF MARRIAGE IS RISING
When the average age at first marriage was analyzed by years, it was observed that the age at first marriage increased in both sexes. While the average age at first marriage was 28.2 for men in 2022, it was 25.6 for women. The average age of first marriage between men and women was 2.6 years.
The province with the highest gross marriage rate in 2022 was Şanlıurfa with 8.15 per thousand. This province was followed by Kilis with 8.14 per thousand and Aksaray with 7.88 per thousand. The province with the lowest gross marriage rate was Tunceli with 4.69 per thousand. This province was followed by Gümüşhane with 4.88 per thousand and Kastamonu with 5.30 per thousand.
When the number of marriages is analyzed by month, it is observed that the number of marriages decreased in April 2022 compared to the same month of the previous year. Although it was observed that the number of marriages decreased in April due to Ramadan, it increased in May. While the number of marriages was 24,460 in April 2022, it increased 2.3 times to 56,150 in May.

When looking at foreign brides according to their nationality, German brides ranked first with 24.9 percent among foreign brides. German grooms were followed by Syrian grooms with 20.5 percent and Austrian grooms with 5.7 percent.
When looking at foreign brides by nationality, Syrian brides rank first with 13.2 percent among foreign brides. Syrian brides were followed by Uzbeks with 11.1% and Azerbaijanis with 8.9%.
IZMIR WITH THE HIGHEST DIVORCE RATE
The province with the highest crude divorce rate in 2022 was Izmir with 3.11 per thousand. This province was followed by Uşak with 3.09 per thousand and Antalya with 3.01 per thousand. The province with the lowest crude divorce rate was Şırnak with 0.43 per thousand. This province is followed by Hakkari with 0.44 per thousand and Siirt with 0.51 per thousand.
When the number of divorces is analyzed by month, a significant decrease is observed in August due to the legal holiday. While the number of divorces was 3,945 in August 2022, it multiplied by 5 in September after the judicial holiday and went to 19,775.
When divorces are broken down by length of marriage, 32.7 percent of divorces in 2022 occurred within the first 5 years of marriage and 21.6 percent occurred within 6 to 10 years of marriage.
As a result of finalized divorce cases, in 2022, 180,954 couples were divorced and 180,592 children were given custody. As a result of the divorce cases, it was seen that the custody of the children rested mainly with the mother. In 2022, 75.7 percent of child custody fell to the mother and 24.3 percent to the father.
